INTRODUCING THE SUFI WAY
REGULAR MONTHLY GATHERINGS

THE ZAWIYA
1 JENKINS STREET, SMALL HEATH
BIRMINGHAM -B10 0QH

This introductory programme draws on the knowledge, teachings and practices of renowned teachers, past and present, to provide a taste and experience of the Sufi Way.

The awakening of aspiration for the spiritual journey is one of the greatest gifts that one human being can share with another. A key practice in the path of realisation is invocation of the Divine unity that transforms and polishes the mirror of the heart. A short session of invocation is included in the programme to provide a taste of this unique science.

Through the guidance and instruction of the masters of the Path the illusions of the self give way to certainty, illumination and inner peace.

Every month there is a short discourse and reflection on the writings of Ibn Ajiba, a great 10th century Sufi scholar and teacher. He provides a valuable insight into how spiritual seekers should not put faith in themselves, nor on their actions, states or strength but through trust in the bounty of their Lord. The themes of the next four sessions are as follows:

Everything in existence is in opposites. With majesty there is beauty. For those of realisation all is Beauty. This finds expression in the moving spiritual poetry of the Sufis. The evening therefore closes in a short session of Samaa (spiritual songs) that aim to lift and touch the soul of the listener.

There are men only gatherings one Saturday every month from 8.00pm – 9.00pm and gathering for women most Friday evenings.

If you would like to attend one of  these gatherings please call 0121 766 8364  or e mail thezawiya.com or drop into the Zawiya  during office hours.
